Compton Heritage House Historic Restoration *
After its previous restoration in the late 1970s, the oldest house in Compton, also known as the Heritage House remained underutilized and fell into disrepair. We worked alongside P31 Development, Inc. to restore the exterior of the structure, returning the property to its former stature.
Together we utilized existing architectural documents, knowledge of historic construction techniques, and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. The preservation included protecting historical features in salvageable conditions, repairing and replacing decaying features on the exterior, and weatherproofing and treating the structure to increase the longevity of the restoration.
Further, enFOLD provided assistance on historic preservation research and community engagement to inform the greater Compton and Los Angeles community on the restoration and garner feedback and opinions on the future of Heritage House.
